October is a fantastic time to be in the garden. The weather is warming up and there’s plenty of jobs to keep you busy. There’s heaps to plant and while you’re out there you’ll be able to keep your eye out for pests and weeds. There’s no better time than now to get started!

With the soil warming up, October is the perfect time to plant tomatoes. Plant a few different varieties to see which ones grow best in your garden.

Spread appropriate plant food on your potted plants.

If you are planning on laying a new lawn, now is the time to do it before the weather gets too hot. Fertilising your existing lawn is also important.

Sharpen, clean, oil and maintain your garden tools when you have a quiet day.
